Autor’s alternative Masterplan for Ealing Filmworks has been shortlisted by NLA for its London Towns exhibition that will be on until 11 January.
Autor’s proposal addresses the location of one of England’s oldest cinemas and the world’s first film production studio and stands out for three reasons:
The design reworks the urban realm and massing, in a more inclusive and efficient way, bringing the cinema back to the high street where it belongs.
The double-layered cinema concept offers 350 additional seats, 490 sqm more retail space and 24 additional residential units within the same envelope.
On top of that the proposed masterplan provides additional 1,800 sqm of sustainable green deck and 200 sqm of more open public space.
