Prefabricated Steel System

International competition prize winner

2000 4th prize with prefabricated steel system in international competition for innovative housing design in Chemnitz / Germany.

A BIT MORE DETAIL

In 2000 Frederic and his colleague Harald Hagues entered an international competition for innovative ideas for cost reduction in housing launched by the city of Chemnitz in Germany.

From 314 submitted projects, their house types, based on a prefabricated steel system, won the 4th price. Other competitors were PortaCabin, HochTief and Skanska and many university research units.

The system was developed with a local steel manufacturer and offered a variety of four different house types. The architecture was based on the Japanese house type and provided an internal garden and movable fence walls to connect with your neighbours.
